TB skin testing is a process used by medical professionals to determine whether or not an individual has been exposed to the bacteria that causes tuberculosis (TB). This type of test is also known as the Mantoux test, and it involves injecting a small amount of tuberculin, a liquid containing proteins from TB bacteria, into the skin on the arm. If an individual has been infected with TB in the past, their body will produce an immune response which can be detected through this skin test.
The results of this test are reported in millimeters - if there is no reaction at all, then the result would be zero mm; however, if there is any kind of reaction (even if it’s mild), then this may indicate that the person has either had exposure to TB or may have become infected with TB.
